We are all volunteers and hold food health & safety certificates.

The Pop-in is non-profit making, all surplus monies either help charities or subsidise events for regulars. We are always looking for volunteers who can spare a couple of hours on a Friday! Come along and enjoy our home made food and see what we do.

    Wednesday 5:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Ballet /tap and modern class for 9-12 year olds. £

Marske leisure centre has been the base for Marske and Redcar school of dance for many years and is very proud to continue doing so.

Children from the age of 3 years old can enjoy their first steps into the dance world with a class specially tailored for them that includes dance, singing and drama.

BALLET; I have a firm belief that classical ballet is the foundation to all styles of dance. Strength, flexibility and Redcar school of Dance endurance in a non-competitive environment, will enhance your child’s progress in every style as a young dancer.

Beginning ballet terminology is emphasised. It is telling a story through dance. Beauty, fluidity and movement are taught.

TAP; This will encourage rhythm, beat, clarity of sound, speed, precision and technique are emphasised. Not forgetting the extreme fun had by all.

MODERN / JAZZ; Flexibility, creativity, self expression, strength and technique is stressed. This is a modern discipline, where students can often relate to. With the help of funky music allowing the dancer to wiggle, jiggle and giggle!!!!!!!

    More Information

All students have the opportunity to take examinations.

    Adult classes are also available.

My dance experience started at the age of 5 years old following in the foot steps of my sister and led me into a career  as a professional dancer in many theatres including the London Palladium and the Moulin Rouge in Paris and then this led into a career in teaching.

Please give me a call or email and I will be happy to answer any questions you my have.

  • Playgroup Open or Close

    Marske Community Parent  Toddler Group

Our playgroup is a registered charity, which provides a range of play activities for children aged from birth to 4 years old. Here children can spend quality time with their parents/carers whilst enjoying a varied program of activities, which promote children’s personal, social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. The group has been running for more than 30 years. All staff have enhanced CRB checks. Staff members have undertaken pediatric first aid training and childcare training. As a charity we have a committee with parent membership which meets to discuss the running of the group, fundraising, trips and other relevant items. We have a baby group and two age appropriate groups for toddlers.

    BABY GROUP - Tuesdays 09:30 - 11:15 - Drop in session.

At this session we have a range of toys from baby play mats and soft toys to more interactive role-play toys for older babies.  Here babies can play in a safe environment and experience a variety of stimulating toys.

Babies learn to mix with other children and at this group can move from baby toys to older toys and they grow and become more active.  Parents can meet new friends and enjoy a chat together.

    TODDLER GROUPS - Wednesdays & Thursdays 09:30 - 11:30 - Booking Required.

    Age 18 month to pre-school.

These sessions include water play, sand, role play, creativity table, play dough, painting and drawing, table top activities, slide, climbing and hiding boxes, construction, cars, dolls, books and group singing at the end of playing time.  Craft and play activities are based around different themes each half term enabling children to share new experiences and develop new skills and knowledge.

At the older toddler group some activities are further developed so they are suitable for their developmental level, for example we bake with the children.

Children are encouraged to sit together in small groups as they learn to socialise, take turns and share.  This develops concentration and confidence and helps to equip the children for their transition to school.

  • The White Rose Singers Open or Close
    DayTimes and InformationPrice
    Monday 1:15 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. £

The White Rose Singers are a ladies choir consisting of 40 members.

     Caroline Scales

For concert details please check out their website on the link below.

The White Rose Singers meet here at Marske Leisure Centre on Mondays from 1:15 - 3:15pm during school term time.

We are a choir of 40 ladies, based in Marske, East Cleveland.

Formed in 1987, we are affiliated to the Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association (YCA), however you do not have to be a YCA member in order to join our choir. Our founder and first Musical Director was Betty Ord. After Betty retired, Maureen Tanner took over, and in 2002 Caroline Scales became our current Musical Director.

We perform all over the area, in all sorts of venues. We sing to help raise money for charities, for special events, weddings, and we put on our own concerts. Every Christmas we join with other YCA choirs in singing for the Annual YCA Christmas Service in York Minster.

We practice in Marske Leisure Centre on Monday afternoons, from 1.15 to 3.15pm. Although we are full at the moment, potential new members are always welcome to come along to any practice, and if they like what they see and would like to join, we do ask that each member auditions – we try to make this experience as relaxed and friendly as possible! Successful singers will be put on our waiting list and will be able to join as soon as a place becomes vacant.

Our repertoire is very varied, and our programmes reflect this. Audiences always say we have “something for everyone”. Songs old and new, classic and modern, music from the shows, sacred and secular, - we love variety!
